]]> Come along on my painting safari! This time I try out creating a Lion and his flowing mane using a combination of traditional painting with a brush and fluid acrylic painting with a piece of kitchen cotton string. It is all done using Craft Acrylic Paints and a lot of patience.

(When things get really repetitive I do put the video into speed video mode. The Painting took me about 2.5 hours from start to finish)

When folks say you can do a real painting with Craft Paints it is just going to take more layers believe them! It will take many layers but the effect is worth it!

Materials:
12×12 Stretched Canvas
Paint Brushes I used: #8 Bright #4 Round from the Art Sherpa Beginners pack of Silver Brush Limited Black Pearl acrylic paint brushes.
Norpro Cotton Kitchen Twine
Saral Wax Free Tracing Paper
Sargent Art Gloss Medium and Varnish (as the fluid medium)

Craft Paint Colors:
Harvest Gold
Bark Brown
Toasted Vanilla
White
Chestnut Brown
Lamp Black
Tuscan Red

The Mane paint colors were mixed with 4 parts Sargent Art Gloss Medium and Varnish and 1 part Paint Colors in the Mane (Toasted Vanilla, Bark Brown, Chestnut Brown, Harvest Gold)

The painting of the Lions face was done with straight craft (no added mediums) paint in many layers.
